Listenetic is a service that allows you to upload files and convert them into speech, which can then be listened to via a podcast application, and provides related features like transcription and image generation. Listenetic is operated by Marcus More-Thiesen.
We collect information directly from you when you use our Service.
Files You Upload: We collect the files that you actively upload to the Service for the purpose of converting them into speech and generating associated content like transcripts, titles, and images. The content within these files is processed as described in this policy to provide the Service.
Account Information (if applicable): If you create an account, we may collect information such as your name, email address, and a password.
Payment Information: If you use paid features of the Service, our third-party payment processor, Stripe, collects payment information such as your credit card details. We do not store your full payment card information on our servers.
Communication Information: If you contact us or provide feedback via Canni.io, we may collect your name, email address, the content of your communication, and any information you provide in your feedback.
Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the Service, such as the types of files converted, features used, time spent on the service, and actions taken. This data is collected directly and also via Google Analytics.
Technical Data: We collect information about your device and connection, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, and error information. Error reporting data is collected via Sentry.
Logging Data: Standard server logging information is collected via our hosting provider, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), in the `eu-west` region.
We use Google Analytics to collect information about your usage of the Service. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about your use of the Service and report on activities and trends.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Provide the Service: To perform the core function of Listenetic – processing your uploaded files to generate speech audio, transcripts, titles, descriptions, and episode images. This involves sending your content to third-party APIs as detailed below.
Payment Processing: To process payments for paid features via our third-party payment processor, Stripe.
Service Improvement: To understand how our Service is used, analyze trends, identify technical issues, and improve the functionality and user experience. This includes using data collected via Google Analytics and Sentry.
Security and Operations: To monitor the performance, security, and stability of our Service, respond to technical issues, and prevent fraudulent or illegal activity. This includes using logging data and error reporting data from Sentry.
Communication: To respond to your inquiries, provide customer support, and manage feedback provided via Canni.io.
Account Management: To manage your account, if you create one.
Generating Content: Specifically, we use your uploaded files and input to generate transcripts, titles, descriptions (via Mistral API), convert audio formats (via Google Transcode API), convert text to speech (via Google Text-to-Speech API), and generate episode images (via Google Imagen2).
We share your information with the following third parties solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Listenetic Service:
Used for: Google Cloud Platform (GCP - eu-west) for hosting and storage; Google Transcode API for audio conversion; Google Text-to-Speech API for text-to-speech conversion; Google Imagen2 for image generation; Google Analytics for usage tracking.
Used for: Mistral API for creating transcripts, titles, and descriptions from files.
Used for: Processing payments for paid features.
Used for: Error reporting and monitoring.
Used for: Collecting user feedback.
We only share the information necessary for these third parties to perform their specific functions on our behalf. These third parties are typically considered data processors acting under our instructions.
We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency).
Storage Location: Your data, including uploaded files and logging data, is primarily stored on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) servers located in the `eu-west` region. Data processed by third-party APIs listed above may be temporarily processed or stored by those services according to their own data handling practices and privacy policies.
Security Measures: We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.
File Handling: When you upload a file, it is processed and sent to relevant third-party APIs (Mistral, Google Text-to-Speech, etc.) as needed for conversion and content generation. **Original uploaded files are retained for a period of seven days** after the conversion process is complete to allow for potential issues or re-processing, after which they are permanently deleted from our storage.
Uploaded Files: Original uploaded files are retained temporarily during the conversion and processing pipeline involving third-party APIs. **They are permanently deleted from our storage after seven days** following the completion of the conversion process.
Audio Files and Generated Content: Audio files and generated content (like transcripts, images) may be retained to allow you to access them via your podcast app or the Service interface, until you choose to delete them.
Other Data: We retain account information (if applicable), payment history (via Stripe), feedback (via Canni.io), usage data (via Google Analytics), and standard logging/error data (via GCP, Sentry) for as long as necessary to provide the Service, for legitimate business purposes (like analytics, security, record-keeping), and to comply with legal obligations.
Depending on your location and applicable laws (particularly for EU users under GDPR), you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right of Access: To request access to the personal data we hold about you.
Right to Rectification: To request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): To request the deletion of your personal data. You can delete your content and account at any time through the Service's interface. Data processed by the third-party services we use (Google, Mistral AI, Stripe, Sentry, Canni.io) may be transferred to and stored in countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). When this occurs, we take steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws. This may include using Standard Contractual Clauses or relying on the service provider's Binding Corporate Rules or other approved transfer mechanisms. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules than in your country.
